Women’s football in Sweden is growing faster than in almost any other European country. Stockholm has clubs at every level — from Damallsvenskan down to neighbourhood recreational leagues. This guide covers where to play, how the system works, and how to find a team that fits you.
The structure mirrors the men’s system. There is one connected pyramid with promotion and relegation at each level.
| Level | League |
|---|---|
| 1 | Damallsvenskan — top professional division |
| 2 | Elitettan — semi-professional |
| 3 | Division 1 Dam — regional, competitive amateur |
| 4 | Division 2 Dam — district level |
| 5 | Division 3 Dam and below — local entry-level football |
Stockholm clubs compete in their own regional series below Division 1. The Stockholm district runs its own women’s league structure for clubs that are not yet at national level.
One of the most recognisable women’s clubs in Sweden. Competes in Damallsvenskan. Has a large youth academy with girls’ teams from F9 upward. High competition for places at senior level, but youth programs are accessible.
Another top Stockholm club. Competitive environment with a strong fanbase. Home games at Tele2 Arena. Youth academy runs alongside the senior program.
A well-established club with a long history in Swedish women’s football. Based in southern Stockholm. Good option for players looking for competitive football below Damallsvenskan level.
One of Sweden’s most recognised clubs also has an active women’s program. Competitive at regional level with a growing youth structure.
Not everyone wants competitive league football. Korpen runs women’s and mixed recreational leagues across Stockholm.
Korpen Dam leagues run from spring through autumn. The format is 7-a-side or 11-a-side depending on the available teams in your area. No promotion or relegation. No pressure.
You can register as a team or as an individual through the Spelarbank on korpen.se. Individual players are matched with teams that need players. This is the quickest route into women’s football in Stockholm if you do not have teammates to form a group with.
Korpen fees are 1,500 to 2,500 SEK per season, split across the team.
Every major club runs flicklag (girls’ teams) from F8 upward. The structure mirrors the boys’ system with the same age groups and format.
Registration opens in February and March before the outdoor season. A second window opens in September before indoor.

Swedish football culture is the same for women’s and men’s teams. Turn up on time. Bring your own kit (boots, shin guards, water). Match shirts are provided by the club.
Training sessions at amateur level last 60 to 90 minutes. Warm-up, technical drills, then a game-based exercise. Language at training is Swedish, but most clubs have English speakers and coaches who adapt.
Post-training socialising is common. This is how the team becomes more than just football.
