Community Program: Adult Football in Stockholm

The FC Nordljus Community program is for adults who want to play football in Stockholm. We compete in Division 7 Herrar and train twice a week in Kungsholmen. The program is open to all experience levels. If you have not played in years, that is fine.

Why join the Community team

Stockholm has plenty of casual football options. Most of them lack structure, coaching, or a real team identity. The Community program gives you proper training sessions, league matches, and a club to belong to. It is social and competitive at the same time.

Many members are expats, people new to Stockholm, or adults returning to football after a long break. The environment is welcoming and multilingual.

Who can join

This program is open to adults aged 18 and over. There is no upper age limit. You do not need previous club experience. You do not need to speak Swedish. We coach in English and Swedish.

The only requirement is that you commit to training. We do not expect perfection. We expect effort.

What the program involves

Training sessions focus on practical skills you use in matches. Coaches do not run endless drills. Sessions are game-realistic and move quickly.

  • Possession and pressing patterns
  • Small-sided games with tactical structure
  • Set piece preparation before match weeks
  • Strength and mobility work once a week
  • Match video review with the squad

Players also take on mentorship roles with the youth teams. This is optional but many members find it rewarding. You do not need coaching qualifications to mentor.

Training schedule

  • Tuesday: 18:30 to 20:00 at Åkeshov BP
  • Thursday: 18:30 to 20:00 at Åkeshov BP
  • Weekends: Competitive matches in Division 7 Herrar during the season

The season runs from April to October. Off-season training continues informally for players who want to keep fit.

Competition

The senior team competes in Division 7 Herrar in the Stockholm regional league system. This is a competitive but accessible level. Games are played across the Stockholm area on Saturdays. Travel is minimal for most home and away fixtures.

We also enter cup competitions where scheduling allows.

Home games are free to watch

All FC Nordljus home matches are free to attend. Bring your family. There is no entry fee and no ticket required. This is part of how we stay rooted in the community.

Mentorship side of the program

Senior players who want to give back can work alongside coaches with the Development program. You attend a youth session once a month and support the coaches. No licence needed. Just patience and a positive attitude. This is a real part of what makes FC Nordljus different from other Stockholm clubs.

What it costs

Fees are reasonable for the level of coaching and facilities on offer. We do not publicise exact fees online because they change each season. Contact us directly or check when you register. We will never turn away a committed player over cost.
